Estate Planning and Digital Assets
We often look to wills to handle our tangible assets. But what about our digital assets? For instance, once someone passes away what happens to their Facebook account? Or their PayPal account which might still have money in it? Well, Idaho Statute § 15-5-424(z) has addressed that issue, at least in part. The statute states that a conservator, within certain parameters, may take control of, conduct, continue or terminate any accounts of the deceased on any social networking website, any microblogging or short message service website or any e-mail service website.
